Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakathuh dear Brothers and Sisters in Deen,
Ablution is an essential condition for the validity of prayer. ALLAH swt gave us ease in this matter too. There are two types of ablution that one can do for Salah(with some conditions). Wet ablution and Dry ablution. Wet ablution is called as Wudu and dry ablution is called as Tayyamum.
Today we are talking about Tayyamum, actually recalling its revelation about how the verses came down giving us ease when there is no water available but still one can offer Salah without missing it by doing Tayyamum, Alhamdulillah.

The Quran says (what means): "…And if you are ill or on a journey or one of you comes from the place of relieving himself or you have contacted women [i.e., had sexual intercourse] and find no water, then seek clean earth and wipe over your faces and your hands [with it]. Indeed, Allah is ever Pardoning and Forgiving." [Quran 4:43]
Narrated By ‘Aisha : (The wife of the Prophet)
We set out with Allah’s Apostle on one of his journeys till we reached Al-Baida’ or Dhatul-Jaish, a necklace of mine was broken (and lost). Allah’s Apostle stayed there to search for it, and so did the people along with him. There was no water at that place, so the people went to Abu- Bakr As-Siddiq and said, “Don’t you see what ‘Aisha has done? She has made Allah’s Apostle and the people stay where there is no water and they have no water with them.” Abu Bakr came while Allah’s Apostle was sleeping with his head on my thigh, He said, to me: “You have detained Allah’s Apostle and the people where there is no water and they have no water with them.
So he admonished me and said what Allah wished him to say and hit me on my flank with his hand. Nothing prevented me from moving (because of pain) but the position of Allah’s Apostle on my thigh. Allah’s Apostle got up when dawn broke and there was no water. So Allah revealed the Divine Verses of Tayammum. So they all performed Tayammum. Usaid bin Hudair said, “O the family of Abu Bakr! This is not the first blessing of yours.” Then the camel on which I was riding was caused to move from its place and the necklace was found beneath it.
Volume 001 :: Book 007 (Tayammum) :: Hadith 332
Another point to be noted is - "Everything happens for a purpose" and only 'ALLAH swt' is aware of it and His plans are beyond the scope of human mind to reach how much ever one try to get there he can't, we analyze make assumptions and draw conclusions but that is just not final enough as we are unaware about anything. Knowledge and Hikmah is with ALLAH swt and for us it is better to have patience during every phase of our life as they will not bring bad but they will bring best and ease for us, we should trust in ALLAH swt, Yaa Ayyuhalladhiina aamanustaeenu bissabri wa salah...
Subhanallah, from this hadith we can get to know many things if we focus as- How the sahabahs were restless, how their hearts were inclined, how much particular they were with their Salahs, how much they loved ALLAH swt that they didnot want to miss salah. They were wishing to leave and were a bit upset with Ayesha r.a because they wanted to reach to a place where they can find water and could be able to offer Salah. With many of us though we can find a corner we don't utilize the opportunity and would think of offering qadha later on- there is much difference in our ikhlaas and their's Subhanallah and praying to learn and develop the same ikhlaas as that of Rasools and Sahabahs, Allahumma aameen!!!
For their pure love- ALLAH swt showed them(infact all of us) a way to be still be able to offer salah without water and that is by simple steps to do and one will be able to start with his/her salah(But not to miss salah under any circumstances).
The first thing which will be questioned on the day of judgement is about Salahs. Sahabahs werenot aware of the scientific benefits but still they were firm with it because they really believed, they had strong faith, today we read so many research articles proving how important is this exercise which serves as a medicine for our human body but still we don't pay a heed towards praying, ALLAH's ordainments are for our and our only Good. Science must add more stars to our faith-Subhanallah!!! "The love of Sahabahs". After our messengers they are the examples for us. For us Science must make our Eman more stronger to implement what is been ordained in the Qur'an and Aahadith, in'shaa ALLAH.
Salah must never be missed because of the great rewards it carries and inorder not to miss the rewards ALLAH swt blessed us with another blessing to make use of it and that is the Tayyamum as per the hadith:
Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) said: "All of the earth has been made a pure place of prayer for me and my nation. Whenever a person from my nation wants to pray, he has something with which to purify himself, that is, the earth." [Ahmad]
The steps of doing Tayyamum:
1) If water is not available.
2) If one cannot use water, example: Due to medical reasons.
May ALLAH swt help us to offer our Salahs at their prescribed time, grant us endurance, guide us always, Aameen.
Hasbunallahu wa ni'amal wakeel, Aameen.
