Assalamu 'alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakathuh dear Brothers and Sisters in Deen,
Alhamdulillahi Rabbil 'aalameen.
Our life is a gift given by ALLAH swt and ALLAH swt has given us guidance about how to lead our life accordingly.
ALLAH swt mentions in the Qur'an in surah Al Baqarah:
This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah - Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them,And who believe in what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what was revealed before you, and of the Hereafter they are certain [in faith]. Those are upon [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful.
Sometimes we feel, we are following the message, but we may sometimes get into some acts which makes us attain the displeasure of ALLAH swt. Frequently we must make ourselves remind of 'what nots'.
Here is a list of few of the displeasing acts in the sight of ALLAH swt:
Shirk:
Qur’an describes about Shirk being the greatest sin in many Qur'anic Verses:
And indeed it has been revealed to you (O Muhammad SAW),
as it was to those (Allah's Messengers) before you:
"If you join others in worship with Allah, (then) surely (all) your deeds will be in vain,
and you will certainly be among the losers." (Az-Zumar 39:65)
In another Verse ALLAH swt says:
“Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with Him; but He forgives anything else, to whom He pleases; to set up partners with Allah is to devise a sin most heinous indeed.”
[Al-Qur’an 4:48]
In another Verse ALLAH swt says:
“Allah forgives not (the sin of) joining other gods
with Him; but He forgives whom He pleases other sins than this: one who joins other gods with Allah, has strayed far, far away (from the Right).”
[Al-Qur’an 4:116]
Shirk is generally classified into two: Major Shirk and Minor Shirk, We must make sure that we must avoid these two.
Istikbaar:
Istikbaar means Pride.
ALLAH swt mentions it in the verses provided below:
“verily He loveth not the arrogant (proud).”
(Surah Al Nahl 16:23)
Worship Allah and join none with Him (in worship); and do good to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, Al-Masakeen, the poor, the neighbor who is near of kin, the neighbor who is a stranger, the companion by your side, the wayfarer (you meet), and those (slaves) whom your right hands possess. Verily, Allah does not like such as are proud and boastful.( Surah An Nisa 4:36)
And our Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) says,
“Pride is to completely disregard the truth and scorn (looking down upon) the people”
[Muslim]
“He who has in his heart the weight of a mustard seed of pride shall not enter paradise.”
[Sahih Muslim, Book: 001, Hadith: 0166]
Pride is among the greatest means of damage to a person’s wealth and circumstances. It distances one away from Allah’s love. May ALLAH swt save us from this, Aameen.
Ifsaad( Mischief Making):
Allah swt mentions in the Qur'an:
“And Allah loveth not those who do mischief.”
(Surah Al Ma’idah 5:64)
This is a comprehensive term which includes great crimes, sins, oppression, carrying false tales, hypocrisy, tyranny and all kinds of mischief. All these acts are despicable and stain the Iman.
Our Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) said:
“Faith wears out in the heart of any one of you just as clothes wear out, so ask Allah to renew the faith in your hearts.”
[Al-Haakim in Al-Mustadrak and Al-Haythami in Majma Az-Zawaa’id]
Israaf (Extravagance):
"But waste not by excess: for Allah loves not the wasters (Al-Musrifun (those who waste by extravagance))."
Udwaan:
Udwaan means Transgression about which ALLAH swt warns us in these verses:
"For Allah loves not transgressors." [Surah Al Ma'idah 5:87]
And they said nothing but: "Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and our transgressions (in keeping our duties to You), establish our feet firmly, and give us victory over the disbelieving folk."
(Aal-i-Imraan, 3:147)
Whomsoever Allah sends astray, none can guide him; and He lets them wander blindly in their transgressions.
(Al-A'raaf, Chapter 7:186)
(Saying) eat of the Tayyibat (good lawful things) wherewith We have provided you, and commit no transgression or oppression therein, lest My Anger should justly descend on you. And he on whom My Anger descends, he is indeed perished. (Taa-Haa,20:81)
And though We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, still they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering blindly.
( Al-Muminoon, 23:75)
Narrated by Anas bin Malik (RadiAllahu Anhu):
“A group of three men came to the houses of the wives of the Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) asking how the Prophet worshipped (Allah), and when they were informed about that, they considered their worship insufficient and said, “Where are we from the Prophet as his past and future sins have been forgiven.”
Then one of them said,
“I will offer the prayer throughout the night forever.”
The other said,
“I will fast throughout the year and will not break my fast.”
The third said,
“I will keep away from the women and will not marry forever.”
Allah’s Apostle came to them and said:
“Are you the same people who said so-and-so? By Allah, I am more submissive to Allah and more afraid of Him than you; yet I fast and break my fast, I do sleep and I also marry women. So he who does not follow my tradition in religion, is not from me (not one of my followers).”‘
[Sahih Bukhari, Book: 62, Hadith: 1]
May ALLAH swt help us, aameen.
Publicity of Evil:
ALLAH swt says in the Qur'an:
“Allah does not like that evil should be uttered in public except by him who has been wronged. And Allah is Ever All-Hearer, All-Knower.”
(4:148)
This is very common in our time now, people commit sins openly not worrying about it's impact on others.
When certain things come up in front of the people repeatedly, there are chances that others too may get involved into the acts. May ALLAH swt help us to guard ourselves, give us the strength to fight against this, aaameen.
Obscene Words and Acts:
Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) said:
“Allah hates obscene words and acts.”
This is one of the common disease our Ummah is suffering from. We sometimes use obscene language and think they are cool or just for fun. May ALLAH swt help us to guard our tongue, aameen.
Betrayal, Corruption, Oppression are also such among the acts which displeases ALLAH swt as said in the verses:
“Verily, Allah likes not any treacherous ingrate to Allah [those who disobey Allah but obey Satan].”
(22:38)
“Verily, He likes not the Thalimun (oppressors, polytheists, and wrongdoers).”
(42:40)
“And Allah likes not mischief.”
(2:205)
“Verily, Allah does not like anyone who is a betrayer, a sinner.”
(4:107)
A muslim is never a betrayer, not even for fun that he betrays not even thinks of doing any in his imagination nor in real.
We must exhibit a morally strong character free from lying, betraying. Rasoolullah saw, sahabahs are our role models.
Exultant For Worldly Desires:
“Verily, Allah likes not those who exult (with riches, being ungrateful to Allah).”
(28:76)
ALLAH swt mentions about being exultant for worldly desires in surah Takathur in more detail.
Our Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) had told us about this in many aahadith.
One such mention is:
“The Son of Adam (i.e. man) says, “My wealth, my wealth.” But do you get anything (of benefit) from your wealth except for that which you ate and you finished it, or that which you clothed yourself with and you wore it out, or that which you gave as charity and you have spent it?” [Narrated by Muslim, At-Tirmidhi, An-Nasai’i]
May ALLAH swt protect us, Aameen.
Attaining Jannah is the dream of every muslim, hence we should try hard to help our selves making ourselves to become Muttaqeen, Sabireen, Saliheen, Siddiqeen, in'shaa ALLAH.
Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) said:
“If Allah loves someone He calls Gabriel (the angel) and says: I love so-and-so, so you love him. Gabriel loves him, and calls the other angels in Heaven to love that person. They love him, then his love will be made upon earth, and he becomes beloved. And if Allah hates someone He calls Gabriel and says: I hate so-and-so and you hate him. Gabriel hates him and calls the angels in Heaven and says: Allah hates so-and-so, so you all hate him. They all hate him, and his hatred is made upon earth and he becomes hated.”
[Muslim1.
If we can constantly check ourselves, our behaviour with self and others, remind ourselves of these verses and encourage ourselves to make ourselves act according to what ALLAH swt gets pleased with, we can attain the real and for ever happiness.
'Forgetfulness' it is in our nature, so frequent recitation of Qur'an makes us to remember, act and also to preach it to others. QUR'AN is considered as the Best dhikr.
May ALLAH swt help us to do the deeds which pleases HIM and protect us from engaging into displeasing acts even to the slightest bit. Astaghfirullah!!!
May ALLAH swt help us always, aameen.
Rabbana wa-j'alna Muslimaini laka wa min Dhurriyatina 'Ummatan Muslimatan laka wa 'Arina Manasikana wa tub 'alaina 'innaka 'antat-Tawwabu-Raheem, Aameen.
